Hello there, this is your oh-so-loving admin, DarkLordX. First off, let me explain what an Art Battle is.
There are three types of Art Battles:
1 - Art Competition: Challenge somebody to one of these contests and open up a poll. Enter your two names as choices and ask who the better artist is on the question line. Now both of you can post 5 pieces of art before the competition ends - after that, it's up to the people. First person to get 3 votes wins the competition.
2 - Art Duels: Definitely the most popular of the three, it's quite simple really. Either create your own character by drawing it or editing a sprite (or however else you can think of) or simply use a character already in existence. Then just fight eachother through pieces of art. For example, let's say I challenge Alexis and she agrees. I open up a new thread for us. I use my own custom sprite, and she decides to use a drawing of Numbuh 4. I start off by making a pic of my character beating on Numbuh 4. Then she draws a pic attacking my character somehow. This goes on until both participants agree on a winner. If neither of them agree by page 5, it's up to the first person who comments in the thread after that mark, allowing the winner to make the final pic beating the loser's butt down. Only one rule - NO SUPER CHARGED ATTACKS. (Such as shooting an enormous pillar of flames at them or something)
3 - Comical Fights: These are similar to Art Duels, however there is no winner; these are just for fun. Anything can happen, and anyone can jump in at any given time. Any "attacks" are allowed, just basically go crazy, have fun, and don't ruin it for everyone else. And remember - there are children on this site.
Keep these rules and ideas in mind and have fun. If you'd like to draw pieces, I would highly recommend www.artpad.com as i will run through the entire process of drawing your picture, leaving you room to build up to something or even animate it in a sense. If you would like to take a shot at sprites, search for some at The Sprite Database (http://sdb.drshnaps.com/), The Spriter's Resource (http://sprites.fireball20xl.com/), and The Mystical Forest Zone (http://www.themfz.com). I would also recommend BGHQ if you're looking for backgrounds. (http://www.bghq.com/)
Feel free to post questions, comments, and thoughts here.
EDIT: In case you DON'T know how to post pictures in the forum, just upload a picture somewhere, (try www.imageshack.com ) copy the "Direct Link to Image" link it gives you, then put it in a post. Just type the tags and [/img] on each side of the link and the picture shows up in your post.
